R2 P3/ Leptin Reset - Day 18

221 (-1) LIW +1.4

"Woke up before 5 am this morning and kept going back to bed hoping to fall asleep of trick my body into going back to sleep, but I was up like an excited child. Turning off the lights and covering my head with the sheet did not help, so I just said ""Aw hell!! and got out of bed. L-Carnitine has to be taken on an empty stomach anyway so let me begin with the supplements then.

Lost a whole pound . . . Go figure. . . I think I ate like the devil yesterday, ate so much at breakfast and lunch that by dinner, I could not even put the cocoa crack in my mouth, just had tea and went to bed. I cannot beleive I actually turned down cocoa crack!! I guess that sending positive thoughts my way helped M . . Keep sending them, I need every help I can get. TOM showed up at the door again, I thought this visit was early again, but no, it is scheduled, maybe that had a hand in the gains over the last couple of days. *SMDH*. I took all the supplements in the morning yesterday, there are still some that should be on my list but my line of bottles looks like a little army of soldiers like my little Braveheart warriors ready for battle . . .

Today started positive so I am just going to hold on to that."

Lots of bumps along the way, but with careful planning and perseverance, I am determined to get as close to total wellness as I can get, in mind, body and spirit.

I discovered hcg when I was shadowing one of my mentors for the day while I was in school and everywhere she turned someone was commenting on her weight loss and how dramatic it was.  I looked at her have for signs of someone who just lost a dramatic amount of weight and I just could not see the draggy and gaunt look of someone who just lost over 30 lbs!  I asked her what she did and she told me it was hcg and that she had bought her supplies off the internet (gave me a pause for a bit, I do not trust internet purchases very much).  Anyway I peppered her with questions for the rest of the day and then I went home and started my own research.

A couple of months later, after scouring the internet and reading the blogs and boards.  I got information on where to purchase, how to mix and then how to inject.  Yes, I chose the injections for convenience even though I hated needles.  With injections, you dose once for the day and then follow the meal plan.  I am horrid with taking medications on time and could just see myself forgetting, so once a day was just swell for me.

I started my 1st round of hcg May 28, 2011 and lost about 24 lbs, then made the mistake of traveling and getting cocky with the loss and being vigilant with weighing in daily and remaining accountable, so guess what happened?  Of course, I gained, and gained and then gained back some more.  So for Round 1, I did very well until I got to P3/P4 and just could not stabilize or maintain because I simply did not follow the rules.

Round 2, I started September 1, 2011 and went for a 40-day round and lost 30 lbs on the round.  Yaay!!  but now the challenge is to keep the weight off and stabilize then maintain the weight loss.

Close to the end of Round 2, I started seeing threads on the Boards about the Leptin Reset Rx by Jack Kruse and figured that since I was going to be trying to stabilize and maintain for the same amount of time (6-8 weeks) then I could experiment with the Leptin Reset and see how well it works for future rounds.

So that is my journey thus far.

R2 P3/Leptin Day 17

222 (-0.4) LIW +2.4

"Reverse Steak Day results: A bust. I lost less than a pound. Works for some people but not for me. I will not be doing that again anytime soon. My supplements did get here so on that front at least I am happy to start taking them. I got pregnenolone, vitamin D3, Coral Calcium and L. Carnitine so I can will see what changes from now on. I feel flooded with information right now so I am just going to relax and let it all marinate for a while. Do what my plan says to do and then re-evalute another time. I am taking grapefruit off my menu, it is after all a fruit so it cannot be ok for Leptin Reset. This is all for a time until everything gets back to order. So if I am going to do the program, I might as well do it right. It makes no sense to come back and try to correct things that should have been done in the first place.

Keep positive."

P3 . . planning my day tomorrow

Sunday, July 03, 2011, 10:21:38 PM | HealthierMelGo to full article
It is a holiday tomorrow I know but not for me . . . I have a full day of learning ahead of me.

Firstly . . Happy 4th!!

Getting up early to get a good breakfast in . . . a 2-egg omlette and mug cake with Yerba mate tea, hopefully that holds me till around 2 then I can grab lunch in the cafeteria, Salad and grilled chicken should do it, the day ends at around 7:30 so I can be home for dinner. That does not sound so bad . . . very do-able. Let's see how that turns out.

Planning is half the battle won.

P3 . . Lost another pound . . really?

Tuesday, July 05, 2011, 11:52:31 AM | HealthierMelGo to full article
Woke up to another pound lost. It might have been the Flax meal that I put in literally everything. (put it in my MUG Cake in the morning and then in the shake I made in the evening) This morning there was a lot of movement going on. I know . . TMI !

I was on my feet all day yesterday too . . . it might have helped too. So far P3 is not bad for me at all. I can live with it as long as I remain calm and sensible in my choices.

So here is what I ate.

B- Mug Cake, 2-egg omlette (ish), yerba mate tea
L- Huge salad - brocolli, Lettuce, tomatoes and a baked chicken breast, coffee, carbonated water
D- Protein shake, almost a pound of brocolli, mutton,
Snack - Coconut Flakes, Apple
Water round the clock

P3 . . . Still holding on

Have been maintaining my weight between 2 lbs of LIW so I think that I am doing well.

Loving the cream cheese and Heavy Whipping Cream on top of the Ezekiel break . . . yummm.

I am watching the days slide and waiting anxiously for Round 2 to begin.

Is it just me . . . or . . ?

Wednesday, July 13, 2011, 9:25:10 PM | HealthierMelGo to full article
I have been having a lot of emotional episodes today, real up and down . . . laughing one minute and bawling the next . . . this is not my normal behavior and there is no reasoning behind it.

Is it just me or has anyone else experienced this? I am not even on hcg since I am in Phase 3 . . . All I can think right now is . . . What the hell????

Round 2 will be different

Sunday, July 17, 2011, 5:45:44 AM | HealthierMelGo to full article
Still holding on in P3 . . .

I have been bouncing around 233 and 231 so that is a good range but I have been getting a little antsy and looking around to see ways to start round 2 earlier. . . .

The verdict . . . Wait the complete six weeks . . it will work out so much better. . . . . so while I am cooling my heels, eating cream cheese, agave nectar and everything fried in mct oil . . . I will make plans.

There are some things I want to try and I will be making my list and checking it twice for all the must-haves like applie cider vinegar and all the things not to do . . . like cheating and stalling for a week.

Loving Fage . . .

P3 - Day 18

I never thought I would grow to love fage this much, yesterday I caught myself using my fingers to get everything down to the last lick of the bowl. . . . yummmm soooo good.

Fell off the wagon . . . then rolled down the hill . .

P4 . . . lost my mind for a few days

Had a Family reunion weekend just as I was entering P4 and it ruined me . . well I ruined me . . as of this morning I am 4 lbs over LIW . . . now I completely forgot how to do a correction day since I never had to do one in P3 since I was maintianing well then.

Time to go google correction days and see what the plan is going to be. I am mad at myself but I am still in there . . . I can do this .

Question is does this set me back from starting P2 again on Aug 15th . . . I have 2 weeks to fix this debacle and start maintain again.

Steak Day . . Down 2 lbs . . .

Saturday, July 30, 2011, 6:53:26 AM | HealthierMelGo to full article
P4 - Day 7

After the debacle of a weekend and a 4 lb gain.

Did a steak day yesterday and this morning I was down 2 lbs. Drank all day and then in the evening I did steak and apple around 4:30 . . I was so hungry, then three hours later . . . I did some more steak and another apple. . . . I was about to eat my arm off. Still lost 2 lbs this morning.

Today I go in search of Full Fat Fage . . . all the stores only have 2%, 1% and 0%, the only place I found Full Fat was at Whole Foods . . . they don't open till 10 am so if I cannot hold out till then . . . I might switch and do an egg day instead.

After Steak Day . . . actually 3.2 lbs down

Saturday, July 30, 2011, 9:15:01 AM | HealthierMelGo to full article
I guess I weighed too early, I went back on the scale and I am actually lost 3.2 lbs after doing a steak day. Wow!!

Now I am back on track. Now I am wondering if I should do a FFF day today or just a modified version of it.

I feel a lot better now. Let's see what the scale does in the morning.

Decisions . . . decisions . . .

Tuesday, August 23, 2011, 8:49:46 PM | HealthierMelGo to full article
It is official . . . I cannot handle traveling while in P3 . . . a total bust . . . I have had my learning experience and what I can and cannot do. . . What works and what definately does not work for me. With that said . . . On to round 2.

I was out of town for the last two weeks and I was a mess, gained . . . gained and gained some more. Did a steak day . . . Lost 4 lbs from it . . . Need to do another one. I am going to look around and see if it is better to just start round 2 this weekend instead of attempting to correct as much as I can before starting the injections again . . . does it even make sense to try to correct the gains at this point? I have until the weekend to decide whether I am going to load this weekend or try to correct all next week then start the HCG injections and load days.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Why is TOM knocking at my door?

You were just here and we do not have another date just yet. There goes my plans to start injecting this weekend . . .

Round 2 - Loading . . Day 1

Thursday, September 01, 2011, 9:28:52 AM | HealthierMelGo to full article
Finally I am here.

Just had my first injection and now to start the loading. Starting at 249 pre-load (will not travel for more than a couple of days without being fully prepared).

I think that I will learn from the mistakes I have made, I know what works and what does not and also after two weeks, there are some theories I would like to try like the whole cooking with mct oil not affecting losses. Cocoa crack will also have to wait a couple of weeks too although I never had any problems losing with it, but we will see.

I am so ready for P2. I have already pre-packaged meat to last over a week's portion of protein so I am all set there.

Green Tea
Yerba mate
Apple Cider vinegar - check
MCT oil
MSM Powder
Braggs liquid Aminos
Sugar and MSg free seasonings

Coconut oil
Cocoa powder
Ground Flaxseed

Aloe vera gel
Baby oil
Cetaphil - oil free sunscreen
Mary Kay - oil free foundation

Yeah I think I am all set and ready for P2

Round 2 - Loading Day 2

Friday, September 02, 2011, 4:20:45 PM | HealthierMelGo to full article
Loading . . . not as fun as it should be, I guess that is what happens when you get the green light to be bad . . . being bad is not so fun when it is allowed. More fat now = less hunger pangs later.

So far this is today's list:

Eggs - I have boiled several eggs and have been having those throughout the day, eggs - great little balls of fat.

Sour cream - was on sale at Publix so I got two tubs. Had it yesterday with everything even with cookies.

Heavy Cream - Add some coffee, caramel syrup, a pinch of this, and a dash of that = one yummy and fat filled shake

Hamburgers - nice and juicy, might just add some bacon on that too

Krill oil and Flax seed oil capsules - might as well get something good for my heart in there while I am at it.

Cheese - Hard cheese and cream cheese

Ok what am I missing . . . ?

Round 2 - P2 - Day 1 . . Let the games begin. . .

Sunday, September 04, 2011, 10:49:56 AM | HealthierMelGo to full article
First day of P2 . . injection -in, no hunger pangs yet. I think I am fully prepared and ready to go.

Tea
- Two 3-liter bottles of iced green tea in the refrigerator,

Water
- Trying to shoot for a gallon

Meat - ready packages of - pre-cut, pre-seasoned 100-150 grams of meat, (I think I will be upping my proten some days),

Fruit - Apples and oranges ( might cut back on the fruit some days too)

Veggies - Lettuce, Cabbage, celery and cucumbers.

No Melba toast for me this round unless I desperately need it.

So those are my plans and preparation for this round.

Re-doing my research . .

Frustrated today a little bit, I thought I was doing it right (except for the cocoa crack that is and I cannot give it up just yet). I think I need to go back over all the information that I have on hcg to see what I need to do.

I am just going to get my information and blog them so that I can find them when I need them.

Changes . . . and vices

Minus Cocoa Crack
Add fage

fage (0 percent fat) - totally not protocol but I have seen where people have had it daily and have had superb losses with it. It seems tho that I am dropping one bad habit and taking up another. Maybe I am just one of those people that needs to have a vice or something.

Ok so today I dropped the cocoa crack totally and had some fage and an apple with lots of greeen tea and yerba mate teas. I was supposed to eat another serving of fage ths evening but by the time I finished running errands it was already after 9 pm so I figured I would not bother to eat that close to bedtime . . . anyway . . . it is now 2 am, so it is 5 hours later and I still have not gone to bed but I also have not eaten anything. I just had some water and now I am going to go lie down.

Come to think of it . . . maybe that yerba mate was not such a good idea this evening, it does kinda work like coffee and keeps you up also might explain why I am not hungry either.

R2 P2 - Day 31 - Day after fff

Saturday, October 01, 2011, 9:30:29 AM | HealthierMelGo to full article
229.4 (-1.6) at least the number looks better. I like pinkprincess's blog and how she pretty much chronicles her losses daily so I copied a page from her book.

So I tried the fff (fat free fage - 0%) yesterday and this morning the scale was kinder, I missed my last meal so maybe that too has something to do with it. I am a little bit crabby this morning because last night I barely slept, I wanted to sleep but my eyes and my body refused to go, I think it was from the yerba mate tea that I had in the evening.

Here is what I ate yesterday:

Breakfast: Yerba mate tea, detox tea

Snack: Apple

Lunch: 8-9 ounces fage sweetened with stevia and New York Cheesecake Capella drops

Dinner: Missed it (running errands - finished after 9 pm so did not eat after then)
. Yerba mate tea, Ballerina (dieter's) tea

R2 P2 - Day 32 . . . After the party

Sunday, October 02, 2011, 7:25:18 PM | HealthierMelGo to full article
230.4 (+1) . . Lost 4 lbs last week then gained back 1 this morning. . . moving on . . .

Pretty sure I had some oil in something yesterday, but you know what, I am not even going to worry about it. Just one day after another, one at a time.

I had curried mutton (not protocol and I am pretty sure some oil was in there somewhere in the preparation) it was good tho, then beside it I had the salad and then looked like "that person" while I sat there picking out the carrots and whatnots from it, then I had a "piece" of Jerked Chicken later in the evening (so I was definately over my quota of protein for the day anyway). I gained a pound and I am moving on from it.

I just have to say . . . It is annoying having everyone ask you why you are not eating every turn of the hat, I just felt myself losing my patience slowly but surely. . . "You all say how great I am looking, you know I have lost weight and it is obvious that I could lose some more, so why are you all trying to put more food into my mouth to put me back where I was?" That is what I wanted to say . . but what I said was . . . "I am ok for now, thank you, I am going to get myself something in a little bit" . . . then I ate the curry.

R2 P2 - Day 33 . . . Losing again

Monday, October 03, 2011, 7:44:03 AM | HealthierMelGo to full article
229.2 (-1.2) . . . Luckily I did not stress over it at all

Still running around, took my shot late yesterday . . . I almost forgot about it. then I thought I had eaten an apple around 11 . . . turns out it was still on the counter when I got back home so lunch started about 2 pm and I had only maybe water before then.

Yesterday's Meals

Lunch: 9 oz fage (0%), Apple . . I will continue with the fage then, it seems to be ok with me so far, it seems to fill me up as well as keep me satisfied for a long while

Dinner: 6 oz curried mutton

Snack: Cocoa crack (2 pieces) finishing my stash and then no more till P3 (two more pieces left)

Tea: Oolong tea, Laci Super Dieter's tea

R2 P2 - Day 34 . . . still losing

Tuesday, October 04, 2011, 7:50:31 AM | HealthierMelGo to full article
227.2 (-2 . . really!!)

Felt like my scale kissed me this morning, I think it loves me . . . lol. 2 more pounds gone, I am happy with that, I guess that the fage is a great addition and I do not think that cocoa crack was my problem then because I also had the last 2 pieces yesterday too and still a pretty good loss. Planning to eat very clean today because I do not want some kind of rebound effect from wherever this 2 pound loss came from.

I ate out yesterday at Cheesecake Factory and I was able to restrain myself from ordering, tasting or jumping off somewhere because I could not have even a taste of cheesecake, I held out and I guess it paid off. Had the steak medallions so that might have acted on the loss a bit (I always lose better after having a steak as my last meal.

Yesterdays Meals

Breakfast: Oolong Tea, MSM powder (2 tbsp) Water - 32 oz

Lunch: 9 oz fage (0%), Apple
(I diced half the apple and added it to the fage . . . I liked it), then had the other half in slices for dessert (just tricking my mind a bit . . . makes it seem like I am having a lot more when I have to pick the tiny slices up one by one and eat them . . . lasts longer too.

Dinner: Cheesecake Factory - Steak medallions with mushrooms and steamed broccoli, Iced Tea (black tea . . . with splenda)
(first time having brocolli on P2. . . loved it!!!).

Teas: Oolong Tea, Laci Super Dieter's Tea
( I recently started doubling my teabags when making my tea and using less water, letting it steep for a good while . . . therefore it sits on the counter till it is warm then I just chug it, no sipping and enjoying the tea these days (I need crackers , cookies, or scones for that)

What was different:

Oolong tea
Earlier Dinner time (2-4 hours earlier)
Broccoli

Dinner was at between 4 and 5 pm and then nothing but tea following that before I went to bed. I usually eat between 6 and 8 pm. Kevin Trudeau did say to stop eating about 3 hours before bed so maybe that had something to do with it. That is not always easy to do.

R2 P2 - Day 35 . . . May have finally found my groove

224.8 (-2.4) . . . I guess I might have found my groove

I think I have found the combination that is right for me in P2. I have been on a losing trend recently and I am just loving it. The scale and I are now on good terms and our relationship is on the mend.

I am thinking that Oolong tea and Fage may just be the magic items for me, maybe I really don’t have a problem with cocoa crack at all but since I am out, I am not going to test that theory with less than 2 weeks before P3, the goal is to make a sprint to the finish and be good, then enjoy P3 for the next 8 weeks (that is the break time between Round 2 and 3) That puts me at loading right before the Christmas holiday celebrations and eating . . . so guess what? This girl will be loading over Christmas . . . maybe another 3-day load just for the purpose of the holiday and the fact that family will be around and yeah . . enjoy the food!!

Yesterday’s Meals

Breakfast: Oolong Tea, Water, MSM powder

Lunch: 6 oz. Fage (0%), Apple diced into fage, half for dessert

Dinner: (Early - 5 pm) 6 oz. Steak prepared with MCT oil, Apple and celery, Oolong Tea, Laci Super Dieter’s tea

Teas: Oolong tea, Laci Super Dieter’s tea

HCG . . . . Have I told you lately that I love you? Well . . . I really do.

Weekend away from home - Scary!!

Thursday, October 06, 2011, 1:23:10 PM | HealthierMelGo to full article
I got invited to go out of town for the weekend with some friends, my first reaction was to cringe inside because I was just scared out of my mind, just as I am doing well, this is going to be crazy. It seems to me that I have never been to/ invited to so many parties and events before starting HCG. When I think of parties and other events, the first thing I see is the food tempting me and the gains following.

I am going to be "that girl" and I am not going to care about it. My response was, I am going to be eating a little strange (It just pisses me off when people keep offering me food, when it is obvious that it is the last thing I need, please when I refuse once, just accept it and move on, don't ask me why I am not eating, nothing is wrong with me, I am not starving . . . obviously).

The Plan

Prefillied Syringes

I don't want to travel with my whole vial of hcg so I am going to pre-fill about 3 or 4 syringes and travel with them, I just have to figure out how to transport them without them squeezing out accidentally, maybe I will freeze 2 water bottles and then put them in an insulated lunch bag with the syringes so the bottles will keep the syringes cool while traveling. hmmmm . . .

Food

I have worked very hard this round to maintain my losses so I refuse to fail now that I have this little time left in P2 just because of a couple of days. It takes a long time to recover from slipping for even one day, or even just one meal. A good plan is half the battle won so here is my plan for this weeken's battle.

Tea: I have all my teas and stevia already in a ziploc bag that is always in my purse

Lunch/ Dinner: It is a party so I know there will be some kind of grilled chicken and salad . . . I will have that, I just have to
remember what happened the last time I ate out on P2 and the gains that followed a simple cheesy spinach thing.

Apples: Packing about 6 of them, cant go very wrong with apples, even if I skip the veggies (making sure that one is
always on me at all times.

Injecting:

Friday - already covered since we are leaving in the evening for the trip.

Saturday - my regular skip day for the week, so no problem

Sunday - maybe I could make this my skip day instead so I dont have to worry,
does it really matter how many days apart the skip days are?

Monday - Should be back home between 8 and 10 am so even if I miss the morning shot I can still get it in before too late

Weighing

Not sure I am going to be able to travel with my scale, it is not portable enough for a weekend bag (will figure something out), even if there is a scale where I will be going, it is not the same as having my own scale (I think that not all scales are the same as mine or maybe I just have trust issues.)

=================================

Ok now that I have it all laid out, the only thing that really stands in my way is my willpower with food and resisting making bad choices. Ok I hope I am ready for this. I cannot keep avoiding socializing with my friends, I just have to learn to deal with it by making a good plan of action.

Body Shapers . . . How well do they work?

Thursday, October 06, 2011, 8:12:53 PM | HealthierMelGo to full article
I have been using the tanks from Walmart because they smooth all the everything out and just make me look better in my clothes. They initially were around $18 bucks each, now I've found them in DD's Discounts for $4.99 ea (exact thing) so I bought 2 of them and then I went back and bought another 2 in a size smaller (medium - I wear a large but the medium sucks everything in and holds it there). In addition to that I have been wearing the trimming bands (two of them - one on top and one below so that they cover me from under my bust to the top of my hips), since the last couple of weeks . . . just trying to help everything along.

Looking around on Youtube I saw where they are using the "Body Magic" which seems a little steep in price to me (anywhere from $50-100 bucks depending on where you look). I am seriously considering getting one so that I can maybe give P3's reshaping a little help when I get there in another week.

Does anyone use "Body Magic Re-shapers" and do they work?

224.2 (-0.4) . . . I am so tempted to hold on for one more hour and try again to see if that number changes . . . . ahhh well

I suppose I was hoping for more but I am satisfied with that. I cracked under the pressure yesterday and I made a batch of cocoa crack to calm my nerves, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I tried to keep it a little bit under control and not make a whole batch like I normally do, just made the day’s allotted amount (2 tbsp coconut oil . . . ) whether that had an impact on the numbers this morning I do not know but the effect it had on my sanity . . . it did wonders. This upcoming trip had me anxious all day yesterday but today I am calmer and prepared. Have a great weekend and happy losing.

Day 40 - One more week of P2 remains 35 shots (32 vlcd plus 3 loading)

224 (-0.2) Celebrating . . . no gain!!!

I was good and I have to say I made myself proud. First of all it was a great weekend, I had a lot of fun and it was very good to be away for a little bit, the road trip was a long ride but a good one. I ate out and had steak with veggies and behaved myself.

There was one incident where we went to a Mexican restaurant and I ordered unsweetened iced tea and when the waitress refilled me I added splenda instead of stevia and then thought to myself for a quick second that splenda really is pretty sweet, only to realize later that I had gotten the sweetend tea by mistake, I was almost done with that refill by that time so I just laughed at myself because I really HAD noticed a difference but I guess I liked the sweetness to think too hard about it or question it. Besides, I was too busy trying to avoid the chips and salsa on the table and the other goodies on the menu.

Yesterday’s Meals (Sun)

224.2 (+1.8) Not even worrying about it . . .

2 hrs later . . . 223.6 (+1.2) still a gain . . . moving on

It was not a great day yesterday.

My body felt out of sorts, I felt antsy all day and I had a hunger that would not be stated . .. Not with the extra fage, water, tea. I just did not feel my normal self at all. Plus I changed the groove a little bit. (How dare you!!!). Yeah I did, I ran out of the steak and I had a ton of chicken cutlets that I had bought for this round and had not used so I did chicken last night when I usually have steak (beef) as my last meal of the day. I found it just worked better when beef was left for last, the losses are somehow better. Another messing with the groove was I eliminated the poop tea last night since I went ALL throughout the day yesterday and not just twice in the morning and that is usually it. So what will I do today? . . . .

I wii stop messing with the groove. Go back to the regular scheduled programming because I know it works. Back to fage and apples for lunch, steak for dinner and dieter's tea before before bed. Time to go shopping for some steak, P2 ends this weekend and I refuse to have another gain before LIW.

Yesterday’s Meals

Breakfast: Oolong Tea

Lunch: 12 oz. Fage (0%), Apple diced into fage (6 first, hungry two hrs later, so had 6 more ounces . . . I usually have about 9 ounces at lunch) . . . later . . . a pickle

Dinner: 5 oz Chicken cutlet prepared with mct oil, asparagus, apple . . . Later a pickle

Teas: Oolong tea, no dieter's tea before bed (big mistake!!)

221 (-.6) I guess I am going to have to really work to get into the teens which is just a little over a pound away.

Tomorrow will be my Last Injection Weighing-in Day. Crossing my fingers for good news on the scale.

Yesterday was not a good day. Running around, up and down all day, stressfull day. Had family in the emergency room so I was there pretty much all day (my grandma will be ok, major allergic reaction to medication - - sorted out). Ate Hospital food (can you believe that the hospital has a McDonald's, Subway and a Starbucks in there?). Out of routine again so I knew the scales were going to be hinky today but I will deal with it. I am taking it a day at a time these days and do my best and not worry about the rest.

I was hoping to get into the teens this round which is still possible but if it does not happen I am stil going to be just fine. I have not been this weight for 10 years so I am ok with it. This has not been a overnight struggle. I think I am doing GREAT even with the setback last round so I am just going to keep going. Life is an ongoing journey with pitfalls and struggles, I just have to be realistic and deal with them as they come . . . . one day, one struggle at a time. "

"Gained. I relaxed a little bit. I think it was from the pasta sauce, it was organic and it had no sugar added but I guess it was too much or there were other things in there that I did not see.

It could have been from a number of things because my program changed from the norm by a lot. I ran out of fage and the dieter's tea yesterday too and did not go to the store to replace them. Then I had the same protein for both meals and then I usually drain the meatballs before having them and this time I put the sauce on before draining the excess fat off first (I make a batch of meatballs in the oven then freeze them so that I have them if I am on the run or in a hurry).

Maybe I should not change the program at all. I am happy to be out of P2, I am feeling a little exhausted and I welcome the break.

Bought Acetyl L-Carnitine* and a Probiotic Multiple Digestive Enzymes** last night at Walmart which I will be adding to P3 this time around, I refuse to have the debacle of last round repeat itself. I worked very hard this P2 to throw it all away in P3/P4."

220.6 LIW+1

P3 Begins today. I will be going to the Doctor's office this morning to have my blood work done. I am thinking of experimenting with the Leptin Reset for this P3/P4 before starting the next round. I have been reading a LOT about it but I still need to go over some things where the tests and such are concerned. I am getting an A1c and Comp done so I will check if that includes the HS CRP and Vit D levels, I know CRP is in there but it is not the same thing.

Yesterday morning was the official end of my 72 hour transition from P2 but I ate relatively P2 for the rest of the day. The real hunger pangs started coming back too, not just feeling antsy, real hunger so I guess that I am officially hcg free then.

Since I will be fasting in the morning to have the labs drawn, the Leptin Reset will not work for tomorrow, dangit I was looking forward to the BAB (Big Ass Breakfast) but I will just start on Thursday and that will be that. I will be trying cocoa crack with coconut manna, I tasted it yesterday and it was nirvanna!! It was absolutely amazing, I am now happy that I had ordered 3 jars plus the coconut oil.

Yesterday’s Meals

Breakfast: Oolong Tea, Water

Lunch: 9 oz. Fage (0%), Apple diced into fage . . . Later an Apple as a snack, I was hungry!!

Dinner: 8 oz. Steak prepared with MCT oil, Apple,

Teas: Oolong tea

Starting my Leptin Reset Plan. . .

Wednesday, October 19, 2011, 2:08:54 PM | HealthierMelGo to full article
P3/P4 has to be a success this time around . . .

I am still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that I have lost 30 lbs this round. I plan to keep it off and move on to the next round over the Christmas holidays and just keep the pounds moving off of me. With that in mind, I have been reading around and seeing threads about the Leptin Reset Protocol and it seems like a pretty structured plan that could work for me. From what I could understand of it and it was not very easy to understand but I found a Leptin for Dummies thread and another one by grammy that was perfect for me . . . They were a little better to understand and I am still not sure that I am completely versed on the topic, so if you are reading this and see that I need help or advice, please feel free to give it because I gladly welcome it.

I went to the Doctor's office this morning to have my labs drawn (hbA1C, cholesterol, etc) and asked them to add hsCRP to it to check my leptin resistance, Man!! it was a whole production to get it done, they had to ask the Doctor (understandable), he said ok just that he does not use it, well I wanted it and he agreed to give it to me but basically I would interpret what it means to me (I did not get an attitude because this was not a visit, I was just there for labs and I had not seen him for a while. He is usually pretty ok when you sit and talk to him, either way, I do not care if they are going talk behind my back when I leave, I am taking my health into my own hands and figure out what works for me . . . I am sick of taking medications and if I do not have to take them then I will never go back to them) ok back to the test . . . then they could not find codes so they had to call the labs and blah, blah, blah, I stood my ground and got the test done, It was more expensive than all the others, it was worth it to me.

It may not even have been a necessary test to take since I am going to do the protocol anyway and I could judge from the results of how it affected me but I just wanted to see where it is that I am starting from so I can tell the differences later. . . . You can get what you can have . . . if you want it badly enough . . . and I want this . . . very badly.

This is how the Leptin Plan should work basically

Tests for Leptin Resistance: hsCRP, saliva cortisol, post-prandial glucose testing

A Strick Paleo Diet for 6-8 weeks

BAB (Big Ass Breakfast):
Eat 50 - 70 grams of protein (little to no carbs) within 30 minutes of waking (close to 70 grams or more for me since I am overweight)
Limit carbs to 50g a day (overweight = limited to 25g ) Coconut oil/ coconut manna in and on everything, this is supposed to fuel the body's engine and rev of the metabolism . . you don't have to tell me twice . . . cocoa crack with breakfast and dinner!!

Eat 3 meals a day: Meal timing should be roughly 6:30am, noon and 6:30pm Timing is very important

no snacking especially past 7:30pm

Stop all aerobic exercise I think walking and yoga will still be ok, so maybe just no jumping around . .

Begin weight training when the answers to these questions are all yes:
  • Do you notice you sweat more and have less muscle fatigue when you do exercise now?
  • Have your carb cravings gone away?
  • Is your hunger under control now?

I will update this blog with more information that I can reference back to as I do the plan

221.4 LIW+1.4

"Leptin Reset Started yesterday at lunch, but I am working with what I can. So maybe today is the official Day 1 of Leptin Reset. Woke up this morning at 5:30 am for the bathroom weighed in at 221.4 but my usual routine is to weigh then then go back to bed and wake up again later, but I got confused for a minute whether it was to eat upon waking first thing in the morning or after I go back to bed for the hour, would that be considered officially waking up. I could not bother with figuring/ arguing it out so I just got up and made my Big Ass Breakfast . . . . at 5:30 in the morning, started eating by 6am . . . wow!! I thought it looked huge but the sad thing is that I almost finished it all and felt ok and not super stuffed after I was done, just by accident I turned on some music (I am making a playlist for a friend of mine), but I found that I quite liked eating to music, it was a very enjoyable experience. Maybe this is something that I should continue . . . Eating to Music . . . I love the sound of that.

My usual routine is to wake, pee, weigh go back to bed, then wake and continue the routine till breakfast and take the lowest weight for the morning then go have tea or whatever is breakfast. Now I have to use the first weight I get after waking and peeing. If I doing that then I guess that puts my LIW number is higher? The plus to that would be that I have an extra 0.5 to 1 lb to work with around LIW, ok no. I am going to stay with the same number I used . . . too confusing.

So my Leptin Plan is wake, pee, weigh then Big Ass Breakfast to Music and then think about what I will do to make this a great day today (Dr Kruse's thing . . . ""Think about 3 things to do to make my life better today: . . I liked it so I am copying it) then after that I see how I feel about having lunch and then have a smaller dinner before 6:30 pm then nothing but water or tea before bed."

Yesterday’s Meals

Breakfast: BAB nothing . . .fasting for labs

Lunch: 8 oz of Meatballs with spinach and water, cocoa crack (with C. Manna, mac nuts and coconut flakes)

Dinner: 6 oz. meatballs with spinach and water, cocoa crack

"Gained a pound today. No wonder, that was a lot of food, compared to what I usually have, especially that Big Ass Breakfast (I love saying that). I will just watch the numbers and see where they go. Still keeping on the Leptin Plan though, my breakfast is sitting here looking at me and I am not as excited as I thought I would be to eat it at all, I am going to, but maybe I will try to find some avocadoes or something.

Can I have fage ? Need to look at that list again, I should avoid dairy. Guess I am not as big a carnivore as I thought. Avoiding cocoa crack this morning will have it for lunch or dinner.

Have a great day everyone, stay positive."

"More up and down. Up from yesterday by 1.2 lbs. Not going to sweat it, lose a pound gain a pound, I will see how the next couple of days run. Skipped dinner again yesterday, had cocoa crack and coconut manna then just teas. I was not hungry at 6:30 at all so that was good.

Sitting here with my BAB and Music . . slowly going through it, I was more excited at the thought of breakfast last night than I am in actually eating it this morning. I am a little sleepy and I want to go back to bed soon. After drinking my Yerba mate tea, this is going to pass and then I am going to be UP.

Happy Sunday."

Lost 1.2 this morning. I guess it works out eventually, so I am just going to keep trucking and watch the scenery and not stress about the fluctuations too much. This is still week 1 of P3 and the Leptin Reset so hopefully by week 3 I will have STABILIZED enough. Added grapefruit to breakfast and lunch yesterday and loved it. Getting sick of spinach so I am going to find some cauliflower and rice it down to change it up a bit. Wish I could have some cheese right about now tho, life would be so much yummier but I have cocoa crack I am pretty happy and can live without the cheese.

Down .6 this morning so hopefully I will eventually be under LIW and sitting happy there for the rest of P3. I mean a girl can hope can't she? I missed lunch yesterday and I did not feel like I wanted to eat my arm off with crazy hunger, I was quite okay to have an early dinner, which took me a while to get through, I was enjoying it, I just ate incredibly slow, I am not complaining, just making note that it took me a lot longer to get through dinner.

The fluctuations continue. I have not been under LIW since P3 but then again, I am weighing in much earlier than I did then so that may account for it. Not going to get stressed about it and raise my cortisol levels, I am still within range so that is ok. It all works out eventually. Must have been all that fried chicken yesterday, I have not had that in months, it was nirvanna! and I did have dinner yesterday which I had not been doing, but whatever caused the gain, I will be fine.

Stay positive and inspired today.

"Waking up this early in the morning to eat kinda sucking right now, but I am doing it. I am thinking of switching out my Acetyl L-Carnitine to L-carnitine and see what that does. Then I will also be adding Pantethine to my vitamin regimen also. Pantethine is one of the B Vitamins that is supposed to help with belly fat, The last time on P3 I did get back some of the belly that I had lost so I am trying to keep that away. In less than 2 weeks I can get some exercise in so that and the pantethine could work really well.

I am a work in progress. trial and error until I find my groove then I will happily sit in it for the duration. Still trying to figure out what my groove for P3/ Leptin is tho that will make me lose, but that is ok, I have 2 more weeks of stabilizing and then 5 weeks to tighten up the ship before we sail off on another P2 cruise.

Stay positive, add music to your life today, it is food for the soul."

"Back down again. Guess that is the trend then. Re-discovered my crock pot yesterday and slow cooking. Christmas present that was just sitting pretty. It is an incredible piece of equipment. I seasoned chicken (as much as I can on Leptin . . . No nightshades and all that) put em all in the crock pot and then this morning, I woke up to my meal, all I had to do was serve. . . . loving it.

Changing out my vitamins . . . I ordered new stuff from Vitacost.com. Switching the acetyl L-Carnitine to L-Carnitine (the L Carnitine is better for weight loss, while the acetyl is good for the heart). Adding pregnenolone as per Dr. K's and Grammy's advice on the forum, then I will be adding Pantethine 600 - 900 mg at night before bed (to help decrease belly fat and aid weight loss). Right now I am a mess of trial and errors . . . seeking to find the groove . . . I will get there.

Keep positive by envisioning positive outcomes."

"No loss/ no gain, not bad considering how much I ate yesterday and it did feel like a lot. I actually slept during the day, for maybe 2 hrs but the face looking back in the mirror was something else, fresher maybe? I guess there is something to this sleep thing.

My mind feels clearer somehow, like some kind of fog that I never even knew was there is slowly fading adaw and things are looking. . . . well clearer, don't commit me yet . . . but I feel like I can see myself, or who I am. I cannot fully explain it yet but that is the best I can say for now . . . there is some kind of clarity thing going on here.

But a lick of cocoa crack, I don't think so. I did go to the bathroom this morning so I am eliminating without the dieter's tea. Ok I am done with analyzing.

I am back within LIW and that is one of the reasons I am not going to stress about the weight popping up one day, sometimes it does that . . . . especially when you are a woman if there is not other logical reason, I am just going to blame water retention and move on. "2 weeks into P3/ Leptin Reset. Gained 0.6 this morning, as usual I am not worring about it. I got my shipment of Pantethine last night and took 600 mg before bed, I popped the pills into my mouth then felt uneasy at how trusting I am to just put something someone else manufactured into my mouth, what other choice do I have? I can't make it myself, I just have to trust manufacturers to be honest and put in their products what they promised, I did not even check the expiration date on the bottle until after I had taken it.

I am getting jaded maybe and less trusting of large companies that give you fillers instead of the real thing and the FDA is not helping, I cannot trust them either to look out for what is best for me. So I felt like a sheep last night popping pills and trusting that people wil l be good at their word and give you what they really promise. I sound a little bit paranoid today and all about conspiracy theory. Just the events of life bleeding into my thoughts a little bit. I hate that I cannot just trust another soul to do what is right . . . just because it is the right thing to do.

Keeping positive today is going to be a struggle, I feel like I am itching for an argument and to speak my mind and not care and I do not like it today. I refuse to let anger fester in my heart and in my body, I have to figure out how to release this or it is going to eat me up.

Try to do the right thing today . . . Just because . . . it is the right thing to do."

The scales are up by 0.2 this morning, I am pretty sure that another trip to the bathroom might clear some of that off but I will still be over LIW by more than or close to 2 lbs. I've decided to do a reverse steak day today. Where I do the Huge steak in the morning and then just teas for the rest of the day, you really are supposed to do an apple or a tomato with the steak but on Leptin Reset you are not supposed to so I will go without the apple then. I have also decided to switch back to beef and steaks in my daily regimen. I lost better on beef in P2, so maybe I will maintain better on it too.

Yesterday’s Meals

Breakfast BAB: Oolong Tea, 12 oz Steak, avocado, cocoa crack

Lunch: BA Salad with 4 oz steak and 2 fried eggs with avocado

Dinner: 1 egg, grapefruit, cocoa crack

Teas: Oolong tea, dieter’s tea
